Mobile Learning: What's the World Up To?

Back to all blog posts >>

Tell us your best ideas and burning questions about mobile learning and we’ll carry them to Paris for UNESCO’s First Mobile Learning Week

ISTE CEO Don Knezek, who was recently appointed to the governing board of UNESCO’s Institute for Information Technologies in Education, has also been active in a UNESCO task force on mobile learning around the globe. He’ll be presenting at the Paris conference – and looking for answers to your questions as well as key trends and examples.

We’re especially keen to hear your questions and contributions around the use of mobiles for student learning and for educator professional development.

After the Paris conference we’ll report back to you on this terrific opportunity to learn from and with the global community.

Meantime, here are a few resources on the topic of mobile learning to whet your appetite.
• A recent blog post highlights a late-adopter’s view and links to some great ideas for using mobiles in STEM teaching.
• ISTE’s special interest group for mobile learning (SIGML) is also a great source for working with this technology.
• For a taste of how one country, South Korea, has built an anytime, anywhere infrastructure to support mobile learning, check out this interview with Professor Lee Tae-Rim from the Korean National Open University on FutureGov TV.

Thanks for sharing your ideas about and interest in mobile learning. Add your comments below and on ISTE's Facebook page!

I'd be very interested in the names of schools (and links to their websites) in Europe which are:
    - interactively publishing student work online
    - permitting and encouraging students to use mobile devices to share videos created to support course learning
    - ways schools are changing their policies to permit mobile devices
    - how schools are addressing content filtering issues on mobile devices for students

M-learning is convenient in that it is accessible from virtually anywhere. M-Learning also brings strong portability by replacing books and notes with small RAMs, filled with tailored learning contents. In addition, it is simple to utilize mobile learning for a more effective and entertaining experience.
