Fourth of July Excursion to Coronado Island
Tuesday, July 4, 9 am–2 pm

Coronado ParadeIf you're leaving your home town at home this year, why not spend the day embraced in the warm and friendly townscape of Coronado Island? To give you a fix of Americana this Independence Day, we've arranged transportation to take you from the Convention Center across the bay to Coronado Island.

Once on Coronado, our tour guides will give you each a town map so that you, your friends, and/or family can enjoy the town at your own pace, taking in its beaches, shops, restaurants, architecture, and festivities before meeting back up with our buses and heading back to San Diego for the Opening Reception.

Picnic in the go!
July 4th, 11 am–3 pm (pick-up times)

Petco ParkThe Fourth of July is known for barbecues, grilling and picnics ... and celebrating with family and friends. If you're arriving early at NECC and have a break in your day to take time for some play, we invite you to celebrate with an old-fashioned picnic in the park. We'll provide the food and the blanket ... all you have to do is take a short walk to nearby Embarcadero Park or the "Park at the Park"—home of the San Diego Padres Major League Baseball team. Order your picnic ahead of time and pick it up on your way to relax and hang out. Even if you just have two hours, it's a great way to acknowledge the holiday and enjoy the local festivities!

Explore, Dream, Discover—Let your spirit set sail with the ISTE Regatta!
Saturday, July 8, 10:30 am–2:30 pm

RegattaStick around San Diego postconference and experience the sailing adventure of a lifetime. OK, so it's not an around-the-world solo expedition, but for the hobby sailors and adventurous among us, the sparkling waters of the San Diego Harbor will provide a perfect place for a first-ever ISTE sailboat race.

As many as thirty 24'–27' chartered sailing yachts will participate, each crewed by six-person teams and a certified captain. Iced beer, soda, water, and snacks will be available on each boat; boxed lunches will be provided on shore after the race. All insurance, taxes, and gratuities are included ... as is an official ISTE Regatta 2006 sailing jacket!
